The world’s largest W Hotel didn’t just get a face-lift—it got a first-class, head-to-toe $55 million makeover. Designed by the award-winning Meyer Davis Studio in conjunction with the W brand’s global design team, the W Fort Lauderdale’s renovation reflects the energy of the city while staying true to the signature aesthetic of the W Hotels. Restyled to create an amped-up atmosphere, the property’s fourth-floor entranceway opens with glimpses of the pool’s reflection along its walls, filtering down from one floor up. The WET pool area on the fifth floor has also been remastered with a black-and-white tiled, art deco-inspired deck. “The W is much more open, inviting and vibrant,” says Anna MacDiarmid, the hotel’s general manager. “It’s an entirely new and stimulating experience for our guests.” And that’s not all: This fall will see the opening of a 4,000-square-foot ballroom and a new restaurant run by James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr. Now that’s a makeover for the ages.
