Cuban photographer Luis Castañeda’s decadeslong relationship with the Cuban Ministry of Culture and the Ballet Nacional de Cuba (or the Cuban National Ballet) has resulted in thousands of intimate photographs. The Coral Springs Museum of Art features the photographer’s stunning work—and trademark gritty and grainy textures—in the exhibit “Danzzaria” (on display until March 3), which showcases black-and-white photos of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. “Luis Castañeda’s appreciation for the ballet can be clearly seen in his photographs,” says Julia Andrews, the museum’s executive director. “He captures the raw emotion and talent of these ballerinas, which makes for a stunning collection of pictures that highlight dance in its purest form.” coralspringsmuseum.org — Nila Do Simon
